"I had these tiles made special. Bought plain tiles in town, took them to Mr. Ahgupuk, the
Eskimo Artist and told him what I wanted painted on and hten one of the boys who works for
Bill glazed and baked them. The boat is called Umyak when there is room for more than one"

Ahgupuk original caribou on the tundra
..."The soft spoken George (Ahgupuk) would come in only about twice a year if I recall
correctly and when he happened in one day with this water color I was spelled bound. So
beautiful, so alive with color, and caribou on caribou skin; I thought....how appropriate! He
seemed a trifle embarrassed by my fawning over it but I had never been so drawn to one of his
pieces before and he had brought things in previously and they too were fabulous, but this
piece was meant for ME!" ...Kat Peterson
